Emerging Female African Acts Taking the World by Storm

Afrobeats is fast gaining acceptance in the global music village. The journey started a long time ago. The contribution of the likes of Fela, 2face, P-square, D’banj, 9ice, Wizkid, Davido, Stonebwoy, R2Bees, Burna Boy, and a host of others cannot be sidelined. Even so, top African acts such as Wizkid and Burna Boy have continued to push the mother sound to break new frontiers. Burna Boy’s Grammy-award win is accreditation of that success. However, a new set of music acts on the afrobeats scene are shaking up the industry with their extraordinary talents.

Interestingly, a good number of them are females and are following in the footsteps of these luminaries by bolstering the vision of the hashtag, #afrobeatstotheworld. For these young emerging female acts, they are not only earning themselves a solidified space in their respective countries through their unique talents and sound, but they are also redefining the gap and grasp of the mother sound on the international scene.
