Over the past year or so, Nigerian celebrities have been getting engaged one after another, and it has honestly been hard to keep track of all of them. From Akin Faminu’s Eiffel Tower proposal in July 2025 to the recent announcement of their wedding date to Diana Eneje’s Cape Town moment in August 2026, six proposals stood out from the rest and got people talking all across social media.
Some of these couples kept their relationships private until the announcement caught everyone by surprise. Others planned things out publicly, with proposals happening across three different continents. We put together the six Nigerian celebrity engagements that got the biggest reactions online, so you do not have to search through Instagram to find them yourself. If you missed any of these, this list will catch you up quickly.

This one is fresh off the timeline. Fashion influencer Diana Eneje announced her engagement to Lagos-based businessman Pascal Godwin on August 21, 2026.
The proposal happened in Cape Town, South Africa, complete with illuminated letters spelling out the big question, white balloons, and a marquise-cut diamond ring. Diana said yes in a brown strapless gown, and the internet has not recovered.
Diana has built her career around fashion and lifestyle content, so it made sense that her proposal photos looked like they belonged in a magazine. Fans quickly filled her comment section with congratulations, and many pointed out how well the setting matched her personal style.
Michelle Adepoju and her fiance

Just days before Diana’s announcement, Michelle Adepoju, founder of the luxury fashion brand KILENTAR, got engaged in a candlelit proposal in Cuixmala, Mexico, on August 18, 2026.
Michelle has dressed names like Tracee Ellis Ross and Naomi Osaka, so it made sense that her own proposal looked like a runway moment. She described the night simply as magic.
Michelle’s brand has grown quickly over the past few years, and a lot of fans said the engagement felt like a well-earned reward after everything she has built. She has kept most details about her fiance private, but her announcement post alone was enough to get people talking.

Nollywood royalty joined the list too. Meraiah Ekeinde, daughter of veteran actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, got engaged to her partner Manny on August 19, 2026, following a candlelit outdoor proposal in Mexico.
Meraiah said yes in a feather-trimmed white dress and a solitaire diamond ring. Fans who grew up watching Omotola on screen are now watching her daughter start her own love story, and the timing made this one especially sweet.
Omotola has always kept her children mostly away from the spotlight, so seeing Meraiah share something this personal came as a nice surprise for people who have followed the family for years. The comment section under the announcement was full of fans sending their congratulations to both Meraiah and her mother.

Afrobeats singer L.A. X, born Damilola Afolabi, proposed to fashion entrepreneur Ella in January 2026 after three years together, choosing the Eiffel Tower in Paris as his backdrop.
Their relationship had largely stayed out of the spotlight before this, which is part of why the proposal news traveled so fast. Fans are still waiting on wedding details.
L.A.X. has spoken before about wanting to keep his personal life away from public attention for as long as he could. That is part of why this moment felt so big to fans, since they had waited years to see him celebrate something this personal so openly.

Akin and Kiky are already known as one of the most stylish couples in Nigeria’s medical and fashion circles. Since the engagement, fans have kept following their story closely, and many say they are looking forward to the wedding just as much as the couple themselves.
Recently, as at August 25, 2026, Akin and Kiky gave fans another reason to be excited by announcing their wedding date. They shared a cinematic save-the-date video captioned “SAVE THE DATE… 05/09/26,” confirming that their wedding will be held on September 5, 2026.
