African Celebrities’ International Records In Beauty And Music
Tacha:
Tacha leads this list with two Guinness World Records. Natacha Akide completed 82 makeovers in eight hours and 144 makeovers in 24 hours. She set both marks on October 11, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History in Lagos. Guinness World Records confirmed both titles on November 12, 2025. Fans and Guinness itself now describe her as one of the fastest makeup artists to ever attempt the challenge.
Hilda Baci:
Hilda Baci now holds three Guinness World Records. She first broke the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual in May 2023, cooking for 93 hours and 11 minutes. That specific marathon mark was later surpassed by another chef. However, Hilda kept going. In September 2025, she and food brand Gino cooked 8,780 kilograms of Nigerian-style jollof rice in Lagos, setting a new record for the largest serving of the dish. Guinness later confirmed the same feat also broke the record for the largest serving of rice overall, notifying her officially in January 2026.
African Celebrities’ International Records In Global Streaming
Wizkid:
Wizkid’s feature on Drake’s “One Dance” became the first song ever to cross one billion Spotify streams, back in 2016. The track topped charts in 15 countries, including the US Billboard Hot 100, where it held the top spot for ten weeks. That single moment made Wizkid the first Nigerian artist to top America’s biggest chart.
Rema:
Rema’s hit “Calm Down” became the first-ever number one on the Official MENA Chart, shortly after the chart launched in 2022. Its remix with Selena Gomez pushed the song further, helping it reach number three on the Billboard Hot 100. The remix crossed one billion Spotify streams in September 2023, making Rema the first African artist to lead a solo hit past that mark.
Tems:
Tems made history at the 2025 Grammy Awards. She won Best African Music Performance for “Love Me Jeje,” becoming the first Nigerian artist with two Grammy wins. Her feature on Future’s “Wait for U,” alongside Drake, also made her the first African woman credited on a song that crossed one billion Spotify streams. She also became the first female artist with an RIAA diamond certificate single in the US.

DJ Cuppy:
DJ Cuppy built her legacy through The Cuppy Foundation, launched in 2018. She has raised over $17 million for displaced children in Nigeria through her partnership with Save the Children. This makes her the largest single funder of the organization’s work on the African continent, a record she has held since the foundation’s early years.
Kaffy:
Kaffy, born Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, set the record for the longest dance party back in 2006. She and her team at Imagneto Dance Company danced for 55 hours and 40 minutes nonstop at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon. That performance beat the previous record, set in Dublin, by roughly five hours.
Mo Abudu:
Mo Abudu built one of Africa’s biggest media empires as founder of EbonyLife. Her company became the first African media business to sign a multi-title deal with Netflix. She has since been named to Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women list, most recently in 2025, cementing her place among the continent’s most influential figures in entertainment.
