Interview with Temilayo Abodunrin – Young Saxophone Guru

-Please introduce yourself to our audience and also name the musical instruments you play 

My name is Temilayo Abodunrin. I am 11 years old. I am from Offa in Kwara State, Nigeria. I am the first of 3 children with two wonderful brothers. I attend Flora High School and I am in JSS1. I am a saxophonist and I have been playing the saxophone since I was 6 years old.

-You mentioned in a recent interview that you started as a keyboardist before becoming a saxophonist. Do you think there’s a possibility for you to switch back to being a keyboardist? 

Yes, I actually started learning how to play the keyboard from the age of 4 when my parents noticed my love for music. My teacher noticed I was a fast learner and advised my parents to allow me to play outside the comfort of my home in order to see how confident I was and that was how I started going out to perform. I was performing at a particular concert when I came across the saxophone and I fell in love with it immediately. I still have so much to learn on the saxophone but I look forward to being a multi-talented instrumentalist someday and the keyboard is definitely on my list. The knowledge of the keyboard is a great foundation for everyone in music…….
