Asake’s quick and easy rise from Lagos to global heights leaves no one in doubt about his musical talent. His third studio album “Lungu Boy” absolutely proves this as he presents himself in a different way. You could call it Asake’s unseen style.

I bet no one ever imagined the rapid changes in genres, the long exposure, the rediscovery, and the return of the very thing that was never a stranger to the music industry. Especially, Ahmed Ololade, Asake, through his new show “Lungu Boy”, reveals more of a side of himself that no one ever seems to know. In terms of style, it could well be considered at odds with his previous works, but the delivery is certainly just as above average. A key result is his ability to embrace Afrobeats’ quintessential feel-good sound while drawing influences from RnB, UK rap and electronic music. His preconceived uptempo amapiano signatures have, consistently, gained global recognition in the last few years since his professional debut, making him a new force to be reckoned with African music scenes like many others have subtly crossed Nigerian Afro sounds with a global audience. Asake thereby, blends musical cultures around the world to inspire fans.

On the first song, “Start”, the singer, however, uses Ludmilla’s striking vocals to summon a melancholy mood and after that, Asake’s usual Afro style picks up the pace for the next few seconds in, before introducing some strong vocals from Wizkid into the second track “ MMS” in the field. With Ludmilla on screen, the trio definitely created an unmistakable masterpiece!

On the third song, “Mood,” Asake lightens the moment, increasing the pace to just over 100 but maintaining his standards. He highlights his tenacity on “Skating”, the eighth song on the list, as he shares a conscious lifestyle and determination to triumph against all odds while creating ignorance to succeed on “Wave,” featuring British rapper Central C (song) ) 9 ).

Among the many other songs that make up the 15-track album, Asake’s “Lungu Boy” definitely represents a new era for the singer as his second album ” Work of Art” followed same and similar tone and tempo with the first “Mr Money with the Vibe” with more world class talent. He scored and looked like a star with such a steady and fast pace. Featuring P.Priime as the producer of the first four tracks (Start, MMS, Mood, My Heart) and three others (Suru – track 7, Skating – track 8 and I Swear – track 12), the album is a top notch and quality of global production, especially when Sarz is added on tracks 5, 6, 10, 11 and 13 (Worldwide, Active, Mentally, Uhh Yeahh, Ligali). Similarly, Haitian producer SAK-PASE is credited with producing the other three songs from the project with Whine (14), Magicsticks on Wave (9), Asake, and The Composers in Fuji Vibe (15).
